About Me

Transylvania County stands at a critical crossroads. I believe the role of a county commissioner is to honor our community’s deep roots and history while responsibly preparing for the next fifty years. Our history, traditions, and natural resources are strengths—but they must be paired with thoughtful planning and modern infrastructure if the county is to thrive.

If we are going to attract new businesses and opportunities for our residents, we must invest in infrastructure: reliable, high-speed internet and expanded water and sewer access that reach the majority of the county—not just select areas. Economic growth should include quality manufacturing and skilled jobs that allow families to live and work here without being priced out of the community they love.

At the same time, Transylvania County faces urgent challenges. We are quickly running out of landfill space, housing availability is limited and increasingly unaffordable, and our schools need renewed focus and support to once again rank among the best in North Carolina. Addressing these issues will require creative, out-of-the-box thinking, collaboration, and a willingness to challenge the status quo.

Preserving our natural resources is non-negotiable. Our forests, rivers, and public lands are a defining part of who we are. While surrounding counties often promote these assets, Transylvania County bears much of the responsibility—and cost—of providing the services that support them. I believe we must protect what makes this county special while ensuring that growth is balanced, fair, and fiscally responsible.

My philosophy is simple: plan ahead, invest wisely, listen to our citizens, and make decisions that strengthen Transylvania County for current residents and future generations alike.
